NEP-Compliant and Ready-To-Implement, Camu’s Solution an overview

The need for an inclusive, participatory and holistic education system is what led to the formulation of the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020.

With the education sector being in dire need of an upgrade and remodel, this reform couldn’t have come at a better time.

It was critical that the system not only cater to the demands of the 21st century, but also meet the needs of the people and economy.

In our previous blog post – The Role of NEP 2020 in Transforming India into an Equitable Knowledge Society – we introduced you to the policy and discussed key areas of its governance.

Camu’s latest read is geared up to take you on a riveting, thought-provoking and informative journey of the platform’s key offerings that align with NEP.

In particular, we’ll go over each of our ready-to-implement solutions that are 100% compatible with the tenets of the policy.

Are you aware that the UGC has created a platform known as UTSAH (Undertaking Transformative Strategies and Actions in Higher Education) to facilitate the adoption of NEP 2020 in higher education institutions?

The success of this platform will much depend on how open, honest and willing each HEI is in voicing their individual needs and concerns.

The successful enactment of NEP 2020 must be looked upon as a journey rather than a destination, a mindset that Camu encourages institutions to adopt in order to yield tangible results.

With years of experience in digitally empowering institutes, we have an edge over other EdTech vendors in the country.

Competencies in Courses and Credits

Camu enables students to explore multiple learning opportunities across higher education institutes via a convenient and cost-effective credit system.

  1. Credit Transfers

Every college or university will have its own method of credit transfer, whereby a student who has completed part of their learning from one institute can quickly and inexpensively transfer those credentials to a program in another institute. Camu simplifies and streamlines this process, enabling students to pursue a degree from multiple institutions. Additionally, as NEP mandates, credits from both internal and external sources can be mapped. The credit transfer and breakdown are also clearly visible on the transcript.

  1. Credit Equivalence for Courses

The manner in which in an institute assigns academic credits to a course will vary from one to another. Hence, when students are in the process of transferring credits, it’s important to have a common framework or internal credit equivalence that can be used to map data. Camu equips administrators with this comparative intelligence, allowing credits to be easily transferred and stacked from course to course, as dictated by NEP.

  1. Academic Bank of Credits

NEP’s mandate allows for students of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to exit and re-enter courses within a stipulated time frame. Each student is given their own academic bank account, in which they can accumulate credits from various higher education institutions. Students can earn credits from external institutions or massive open online courses (MOOCs). Camu offers an easy way to deposit data into the central database – National Academic Depository – by providing templates.

Choice and Voice for Learners

Camu brings in immense flexibility and autonomy to the learning experience by granting students the ability to study at their own style and pace.

  1. Student Choice-Based Enrolment

NEP focuses on providing students with more options to choose from across various subjects across Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Sports, and Vocational Subjects. With Camu’s superior choice-based enrolment system, students not only get to pick subjects of their choosing, but are also able to take unconventional combinations. And by focusing on imparting multidisciplinary knowledge, students are nurtured in a holistic manner. Add to this, the ability of academic personnel to introduce agility and versatility to the curriculum.

  1. Student Gap Year

In line with NEP’s vision of making education more inclusive, the multiple entry and exit point system seeks to replace rigid semesters. Which means, students are free to take a gap year in between to work, save up, or engage in research. In the interim, Camu makes it possible for students to save their credits within the Digi Locker.

Utility combined with UX

  1. Online Courses

Students can avail of online courses as a means to further fuel their understanding of a particular subject or course. The credits system as outlined by NEP ensures that credits can be easily transferred and stored. Further, course content, core outcomes and key assessments can be integrated into the curriculum. Institutes also have the added advantage of expanding their reach and selling their courses to external students, local and global.

  1. MultiLanguage Support

NEP seeks to shine a light on regional languages, making it easier for students from rural backgrounds to integrate into the system. Supporting this mission is Camu’s multi-language functionality within the LMS that optimises the user experience by localising course content and bridging the geographical divide.

Education That Evolves

  1. Self-Paced Learning

Camu, in line with NEP, is of the firm belief that optimum learning takes place when a student works at his or her own style and pace. A self-paced, learner-controlled program would require the creation of specific learning outcomes for each learner based upon their needs, interests, competencies, and more. A platform like ours is fully compatible with Outcome Based Education, which allows for learning activities to be carefully designed.

  1. Life-Long Learning

The concept of lifelong learning is what guides NEP. From developing credit scores that enable graduates to avail of their credentials even a decade after passing out, to connecting students with industry experts, the idea is to keep pushing for learning. Camu is fully compatible with the principles of LLL, boosting student outcomes throughout the academic lifecycle.

  1. Professor of Practice

The NEP has brought about relaxation on what criteria need to be satisfied in order to be regarded as a Professor of Practice. That way, an industry expert with considerable knowledge and experience can connect with students irrespective of the number of research papers to their name.

Building a comprehensive, well-rounded, and holistic education system takes time and patience.

Camu’s actionable, NEP-enabled solutions help you get your institution on the fast track to success.

The concept is good. But we need to companies in to this process and add skill based partical training and resources neex to trainned based on the job demand for the next 20 years.

Also we need to decentralise the skill development at district level
