Get The Best Perspective with Camu’s Superior Dashboards

EdTech platforms boast a variety of dashboards that help navigate academic processes, information, research, and communication.  Not only do these smart dashboards display real-time key metrics and performance indicators, but they also guide decision-making and goal setting. As a leading campus management solution provider, we at Camu pride ourselves in having a variety of dashboards that empower, inspire and facilitate. 1. Attendance Dashboard The smart and secure Attendance Dashboard by Camu makes it easy for academicians to view student attendance, whether daily, weekly or monthly. The dashboard also presents the Top 10 lowest attendance records module-wise, so that necessary changes can be made to improve and rectify the situation. 2. Attendance Information Dashboard The seamless Attendance Information Dashboard provides a detailed snapshot of all attendance data, making it convenient for department heads to view the necessary metrics and make faster decisions. Unlike traditional attendance dashboards, this new and improved version by Camu awards the administrators with the flexibility of either viewing or downloading the report by staff and by students. Student ViewThe Administrator who wishes to access attendance information must simply click on the Attendance Information Dashboard and select ‘By Students’. He or she can then tailor the search based upon criteria like the program, academic year, and semester. Upon doing so, a complete list of students will be auto-generated. Administrators may click on any name on the register, or additionally, search for a particular name. After which, the options of exporting the report (one student or all) or viewing the data are presented. If the latter is selected, the screen will display the student’s list of subjects, teachers assigned, attendance in each class, and duration of the course. There is even the added option of viewing ‘present’, ‘absent’, ‘no attendance’ and ‘on duty’, under the selected subject. Staff ViewLike with students, a staff member who seeks to access the plethora of attendance information available must simply click on the Attendance Information Dashboard and select ‘By Staff’. Two options open up – Attending Staff and My Department Staff. Attending Staff includes faculty from other departments who are currently delivering lectures in the searcher’s department. Conversely, My Department Staff comprises faculty from the searcher’s department itself. When looking up staff member records, one can customize the search based upon criteria such as program, academic year, and semester. Further, one can view the list of students governed by that particular faculty member, along with their attendance. 2. Admission Dashboard The high-quality Admission Dashboard is regarded as a one-stop-shop for all enrolment details. Within seconds, management can view the list of programs offered, total admissions for each vacancy, capacities, and pending applications. Based on the data mined from this dashboard, an institution can improve its admission process and enrolment strategy. 3. Transcript Analysis Dashboard As its name suggests, the Transcript Analysis Dashboard empowers management to access a very specific kind of information, from enrolment summary to performance by grade. As with all other dashboards, the search can be customized based on the program, academic year, semester, and module. Faculty will be able to view the top 5 students on the basis of their Grade Point Average and Cumulative Grade Point Average, either program-wise or subject-wise. Furthermore, a summary of passes/failures will also be accessible. With these insights at an institution’s disposal, student goals are tracked and met. 4. Timetable Holistic View Dashboard The Timetable Holistic View Dashboard provides a weekly plan of all lectures on the basis of the given program, academic year, semester, and department.   If the classes are happening as per schedule, they will be colored blue. If there are any substitutions, however, they will be displayed in orange. Similarly, the sessions with attendance finalized will be displayed in purple. Finally, the classes that are canceled will be marked red. By selecting a particular session, faculty and students will be able to view who is taking the class, the subject name, the course code, and the timings. One of the most distinguishing attributes of Camu is the fact that it keeps innovating and updating, thereby offering institutions value additions. A Teacher’s Guide to Embracing Technology

Whether it’s interpreting new features on the go, navigating between online and on-campus instruction, customizing curriculums, and/or grading assignments, teachers have faced a variety of obstacles in the perennial struggle to keep students educated and engaged. Digital competency is the new mandate. And with so many budding opportunities in the ever-growing technology field, it is essential for teachers to be able to grasp this knowledge and use it to help students achieve their goals. If you’re an institution looking for some insight into the relationship between teachers and technology, here are 6 factors to consider! 1. Motivation: Becoming digitally literate goes beyond mere training programs and learning modules, it requires a certain level of commitment and passion. Ensuring faculty members understand the reasons for which they need to embrace technology before they deep dive into it, is the first step towards achieving human-tech synergy. It’s advisable for institutes to adopt a holistic and proactive approach to introducing new tools, one that focuses on the benefits and value to students and other primary stakeholders. By inspiring an attitude and desire to participate in the change through open communication, you’re more likely to reap the advantages of having an EdTech platform. 2. Training: It is important to acknowledge that most educators may not have been exposed to learning technology as part of their professional development. Making this transition in such a short period of time and acquiring the right combination of skills thereafter, requires a smart and hands-on training program. Depending upon the campus management solution in question, institutes will have to take steps to successfully and seamlessly onboard faculty members onto the new platform. Product demonstrations are a great way for instructors to gauge, first-hand, how the software can be used. Remember, training is an ongoing journey and not a one-time fix. 3. Support: When integrating pedagogy with technology and reimagining curriculums for online delivery, it’s imperative to have a reliable EdTech partner. One that is available to you for the purpose of technical aftercare. This is simply because of the myriad of unexpected challenges that may arise. From connectivity issues to bandwidth troubles, data loss to privacy concerns, the virtual world is vulnerable. Hence, it is recommended to have a contingency plan for teachers to tap into. When you give instructors adequate support, along with a community to fall back on, they are empowered to use the tools in an intended manner. 4. Feedback: Continuing with the previous school of thought, we’re here to remind you of the merits of establishing a feedback model. Let’s think about it logically, shall we? When you allow teachers the freedom to air their grievances, share their points of view, and make suggestions for improvements, what you’re really doing is giving them a voice. And without their unique voice, technology integration becomes directionless. After all, it is the teachers who are going to be facilitating the knowledge exchange, implementing useful digital tools to expand learning opportunities for students, mentoring, and guiding them to achieve their goals. Hence, their perspective matters. 5. Collaboration: A crucial stage in a teacher’s journey to embracing technology successfully, is the ability to switch between virtual and physical instruction. Note, digital learning cannot replace traditional learning, the future mandates a blend of both. Enter, blended learning, the modern approach to education. It combines online educational materials (and opportunities for interaction online) with traditional place-based classroom methods, allowing the teacher freedom and flexibility to use the medium he/she deems most fit for the academic context. The flipped classroom method also grants this fluidity, wherein learners are introduced to content electronically, and can practice working through it in person. 6. Governance: The successful implementation of EdTech requires having a strong governance system in place. And this can mean many things. Democratic leadership. Two-way, open communication. Shared decision-making, especially when it comes to situations that directly impact teachers. If faculty are to fully embrace the technology, they must be given the autonomy to do so. As mentioned earlier, when there is motivation to accept the change, the performance is positively impacted. In the age of e-learning, the journey to achieving deep digital transformation is one worth embarking upon. And if e-learning is a journey, the teacher is the driver. The students, the customers. The institution, the conductor. Related posts: Engaging with Education Trends 2021 Camu’s Guide to Building an Effective Education System Making Remote Learning A Success

10 Sure-Fire Factors to Help Assess Your EdTech Platform

Looking to appraise the suitability of your e-learning tool? Interested in how you can satisfy learners’ needs and learning outcomes with your campus management solution? Eager to understand the software you’ve just appointed? Exploring the feasibility of potential vendors? Well, we’d like to gift you a simple framework to make this task seamless. Camu turned to the smart rubric provided by Educause, a non-profit association, whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology. By understanding this model, reorganizing and building upon it to meet our unique perspective, we aim to provide a holistic breakdown of evaluation criteria for institutions. Here are 10 factors to delve into, as a higher education institution, when critiquing your EdTech solution. 1. Functionality: The most basic thing to consider when evaluating the quality of an EdTech solution, is the level of utility it provides. Institutions must therefore determine whether the platform or tool is meeting the intended purpose, which is, to augment and facilitate education. Whether online or on-campus, the system must be adept at managing primary functions such as lecture streaming, automated attendance, and online assessments. 2. Technicality: The integral components of e-learning implementation include internet access, hardware, software, and computer availability. Naturally, satisfying this set of criteria is a prerequisite for teaching and learning. Institutions must ask themselves, “can students effectively use the e-learning tool on a desktop or laptop computer if they have a standard, up-to-date operating system and/or browser?”. 3. Accessibility: An EdTech solution may be top of the line, but if it’s not accessible, it goes to the end of the line. When we say accessible, we don’t just mean in terms of institutional cost, we also mean with respect to addressing the key requirements of a diverse set of users and including a broader understanding of student capabilities. The less equipment needed, the more accessible the tool becomes to a wider audience, regardless of socioeconomic, geographic, or environmental factors. 4. Ease of Use: An EdTech solution is only as smart and as good as the ability of its users to navigate it successfully. When a platform is inflexible, complex in design, challenging to navigate, and behaves in unexpected ways, it is likely to be perceived negatively by faculty and students. In contrast, a tool tends to be more positively met when it feels intuitive, easy to use, and additionally, offers guidance through user engagement. 5. Scalability: It’s imperative for an EdTech solution to be flexible, whether it is accommodating large class sizes or supporting small group work. Scale, therefore, focuses on the tool’s affordances to govern the size as well as nature of the classroom environment.  Institutes must look to invest in a cloud platform with elastic load balancing and auto-scaling architecture, in order to provide sub-second response time to users. 6. Synergy: As an institution, you must be capable of efficiently and effectively managing multiple departments and processes, from the back office to the front end. Enabling complete academic governance is no easy feat. This is why it’s crucial to evaluate your EdTech solution based upon how collaborative and integrated it is. Does it have a unified LMS and SIS? Can it support multiple education models such as OBE and CBCS? Can you mine data for accreditation purposes? 7. Innovativeness: Innovation, incremental and radical, is what sets one EdTech platform from another. While the former refers to small design updates or customizations like introducing a chat feature, the latter refers to newer technologies that bring about a significant change such as cloud-based applications and blockchain. When assessing your solution, do consider what features and attributes it possesses and what problems it is solving for users. 8. Mobile Design: With the rise of online education and impact of e-learning, comes the inevitable need of operating a web and mobile interface. Instructional methods that deliver content using mobile technology will have the advantage over those who rely solely upon web-based applications. When assessing an EdTech solution, examine its mobile design. Having sound mobile architecture enhances teaching quality and student learning through instant connectivity. 9. Data Protection: When reviewing an EdTech solution for its merits towards instructors and learners, an institution must not forget to recognise the potential risks involved. When it comes to data protection, the primary concerns are related to personal information and intellectual property. It is necessary for institutes to be vigilant in securing student data and teacher data, at all costs. Apart from privacy and ownership, aspects such as archiving, saving, and exporting data also come into play. 10. Learner Analytics: An EdTech solution, with its data analytics functions and performance metrics, can empower students to understand their strengths and weakness and help faculty members discover newer opportunities for teaching. Mining data for insights helps pinpoint areas that require immediate course correction, thereby guiding an institute to better gauge trends for improved academic performance. Whether you are an institution evaluating your current EdTech vendor or exploring potential EdTech vendors, this everyday framework with 10 evaluative criteria will assist you in doing so.
