Student Choice Based Enrollment is Spearheading Higher Education in India

Camu believes that students should be co-creators and co-collaborators in the learning process, rather than passive recipients. How so? By taking a firm hand in what, when, where, how and why they learn. By assuming full responsibility in academic lifecycles, so that they may be better prepared to curate their professional paths and meet their vocational aspirations. To help drive this point across, let’s consider two scenarios: Student A pursues a course his parents have selected for him. He adheres to a pre-determined structure, subject list, timetable, pattern, and mode of learning. He graduates with broad-based knowledge and begins to look for a suitable job in the finance industry. The market, however, is saturated with candidates of similar breeding. Student B pursues a course of his choice. He picks subjects – across disciplines – that align with his career interests and goals. He selects the mode of learning i.e., hybrid learning, that strikes a good balance between on-campus, online, and choice-based instruction. He graduates with specialized knowledge, skills, and attributes, that enables him to transition into the industry of his liking with ease. While Student A and B are both equally talented and hardworking, what sets their trajectories apart is the presence of a Student Choice Based Enrollment system or lack thereof. Hence, we can fairly surmise that with a Student Choice Based Enrollment system, Student A will be left in the past, while Student B will be presented with opportunities that can build his or her future. Higher education is slowly but surely moving towards a place of student-centricity, wherein learners are granted the freedom, flexibility and independence to study at their own pace. Learning-Driven by Learner’s Choices Today’s students are presented with an array of choices, making it easier to nurture their pedagogical curiosity. You’ve got campus-based classrooms, virtual classrooms, blended classrooms and now, hybrid classrooms i.e., choice-based classrooms! Students can hand-pick their degrees, earn and transfer their credits, avail of extra-curricular activities, graduate with honors, secure placements, and more. Institutions across the globe have worked hard to digitize their academic and administrative processes, offering learners a seamless educational experience from the comfort of their homes. Shifting to a student-centric approach has been instrumental in breaking away from the competition and increasing enrollment. Autonomy in Every Action As campuses open up and begin to settle into a new normal, they should look to eliminate the same, box standard, programmes with fixed schedules. The aim should be to nurture and grow student pedagogical journeys. And this can be accomplished by shifting to a robust, choice-based system. While critics may argue that students prefer to be guided by institutions, it’s safe to say that students are slowly acknowledging the immense possibilities in a choice-driven curriculum. Camu- Choice Based Enrollment We help institutions transition from a traditional educational system to a flexible, choice-based one through the following reforms: Camu gives you a head start to becoming the institute of the future, by driving the aforementioned changes. This stimulating, learner-centric curriculum is not only supported by the NEP 2020, but is also a major ally to the NAAC and NBA accreditations process!
